Transformer installation and maintenance

We work to strict safety and quality standards to ensure the safety of all personnel, and, following installation and testing of your transformer, we can also provide a fully assured maintenance service - a complete service from a single supplier.
In order to maximise uptime and reduce the chance of an unplanned outage, 4ON recommends (as a minimum) the following maintenance tasks:
- Visual inspection of tank, radiators and gasket seals to prevent oil loss.
- Dissolved gas analysis - We will send an oil sample to our lab for a detailed report.
- Tap changer service and testing.
- Windings and their Insulation Resistance (IR).
- Parital discharge detection test.
- Verification and testing of over temperature and oil level senders.
- Breather replacement.

Thermal imaging
During normal operation, poorly maintained transformers can easily overheat when energy used to step up or down voltage levels is lost as heat, with potential damage to insulation and the risk of failure.
For that reason, thermal imaging is carried out to assess the state of the internal cooling tubes and identify remedial works where appropriate.
Talk to us about arranging a thermal inspection of your transformer. Our ITC Level 2 qualified thermographers use state of the art equipment by FLIR - T1K/T660 - giving you an accurate view and helping you to plan with confidence.
Protection coordination / grading studies
As part of the design and installation of your electrical circuits, we'll ensure that full protection coordination is in place to limit the impact to your devices of a short-circuit. We'll include a number of protection devices to interrupt the power supply in such instances, correctly coordinated and sized appropriately for the devices they're protecting.
We can also carry out a grading study to examine your network and make sure that, in the event of a fault, the affected part of the network is swiftly isolated, thereby preventing damage or stress to the rest of your network through the faulty current.
Electrical testing / periodic maintenance
